Lawyer Referrals
The Gay and Lesbian Lawyers of Philadelphia Referral Service (GALLOP-RS) is a free public service to members the greater Philadelphia area seeking attorneys who are sensitive to the needs of the LGBT community.
As a referral service, GALLOPRS makes no representations about either the sexual orientation or quality of service provided by participating attorneys. GALLOP-RS is not a law firm, has no attorneys on staff, does not represent clients and does not provide legal advice and information. GALLOP-RS simply offers a list of our members who are willing to receive referrals from individuals who have contacted GALLOP-RS. Any terms for taking a case, providing legal advice, including fees, are to be worked out between the individual receiving a referral and the attorney. When individuals contact referral attorneys, they will be provided with a free half-hour consultation if they mention they were referred by GALLOP-RS.
Referrals may be made in one of two ways:
1) ONLINE - CLICK HERE to review the list of GALLOP-RS attorneys. Each attorney has listed the legal areas in which they have indicated they will take referrals.
2) TELEPHONE - When an individual contacts GALLOP-RS by telephone, he or she will be mailed a list of attorneys who have represented that they practice in the area of law that would address the specific concern and are licensed to practice in the caller's geographic area. Whenever possible, GALLOP-RS tries to provide three different attorney referrals so that the caller may select which best suits his or her specific needs.

Referral Service: GALLOPRS SEEKS NEW ATTORNEYS
The Gay and Lesbian Lawyers of Philadelphia Referral Service (GALLOPRS) seeks new attorneys for its panel.
Over the past year, GALLOPRS received over 300 requests from the public for attorneys who understand and are sensitive to the needs of the gay and lesbian community. Of the calls fielded over the past 12 months, roughly 25 percent concerned family law, 17 percent concerned estates law, 15 percent concerned discrimination (mostly employment discrimination), and 13 percent concerned criminal law or intentional torts. Also common were calls concerning real estate, medical malpractice, landlord/tenant and immigration issues.
GALLOPRS is open only to GALLOP members with malpractice insurance. For dues-paid members, attorney participation in the referral service costs $100 per year to be listed under three practice areas. There is a $5 charge for each additional practice area. This fee structure represents an increase in the cost of enrollment in the service, but it allows you to be listed under three practice areas at no extra charge (as opposed to two). We advertise the service in the PGN, as well as at events the community attends throughout the year. A large number of callers discover GALLOPRS by contacting our Website. We continue to ask that all attorneys provide a half-hour free consultation to any prospective clients referred by the service.
Persons seeking referrals call our coordinator, who assesses the needs of the caller and attempts to provide the names of three attorneys who have indicated that they practice in the relevant area. Names of attorneys are referred on a rotating basis.
